Who We Are

The park’s organization is characterized by a series of many different partnerships. After the purchase of this land, the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation formed an innovative partnership with the Town of Hillsdale. While the state owns the land, the Town of Hillsdale manages the RJP.

In early 2008, the Hillsdale Town Board appointed a Park Steering Committee made up of community members from Hillsdale and Copake to help guide the initial development and management of the park. Since then, the volunteer steering committee has engaged many other community volunteers ("park partners" ) to help open and maintain the park.

Looking to the future, the town and steering committee will be turning to the larger community for active participation in gathering ideas and planning for the park's future. An outside park planning consulting firm (funded by OPRHP) will guide us in developing these plans together and helping with fundraising strategies to help make our ideas become a reality.
