Bird Walk in the Park - POSTPONED
Join us at 7:30 am on Tuesday, May 1 instead!
Join Larry Federman, Education Coordinator at Rheinstrom Hill Audubon Center & Sanctuary, on a birding walk through Roe Jan Park. Whether you are an experienced birder or a beginner, you'll be sure to enjoy a walk with Larry, who is so familiar with all the birds that live in our area as well as those that migrate through. Bring binoculars, wear appropriate footwear and meet at the kiosk by the parking lot. (Photo by Larry Federman)
Wildflower Walk- Sunday April 29, 10 am
Join local wildflower expert Janice Goldfrank for a walk through the woods and fields of the park to discover what's in bloom -- flowers, bushes, trees, maybe even edible plants. Janice has spent over 35 years studying and documenting wildflowers in upstate New York. She's sure to point out some you wouldn't even notice. The rain is sure to have made many bloom. Wear sturdy shoes that can get muddy and meet at the kiosk.
Hello, Dahlia! Join us at the Third Annual Flowers to Power the Parks Luncheon Sun. May 6 from 11:30 to 2:30 pm at the Hillsdale Firehouse on Rt. 22.
This year we'll enjoy a presentation from Barb Pierson, nursery manager at White Flower Farm, who will highlight the best dahlia varieties for beds and containers and share tips for companion plants. We'll again feast on a delicious lunch from Red Barn, one of Columbia County's top caterers. Julie Gale, the proprietor of Hillsdale’s At The Kitchen Table Cooking School is holding a free seminar on May 5 where volunteers will prepare the desserts that will be served at this year’s benefit luncheon.
More than 50 items have already been donated for the Silent Auction that will also be part of the event, featuring donations from a long list of the Hudson Valley’s finest businesses. To preview the complete silent auction list, visit the Facebook Event page: Hello Dahlia! As always, proceeds from this event will be used to support projects at both of Hillsdale's parks -- the Roeliff Jansen Park and the Hamlet Park.
Tickets for the luncheon are $45 per person and reservations are needed. Download the form below and send it in now with your check to be sure you get a seat!
